Who We Are

Who We Are

Welcome to the Primary School

On behalf of the entire staff, student and parents, I would like to welcome you to Qatar Academy Doha.

Qatar Academy Doha is recognized as a leading pioneer school within the Qatar Foundation as it was the first founding school founded on 1996 by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the father Emir and  H.H Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser.

There is no question that QAD has established an excellent and well-deserved reputation in the State of Qatar and regionally, for providing students with an outstanding quality education, from our Early Education Centres through to Grade 5 and beyond.

The primary school is authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) and its curriculum framework. The school fosters a stimulating and modern learning environment based upon the international Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy and is enhanced by advanced technologies.

A strong academic foundation is established through an inquiry-based approach to discovery and learning. At the heart of the programme is the IB Learner Profile and students develop their skills, knowledge and attitudes based around these key attributes.  The programme is built around concept-driven Units of Inquiry and students spend their week studying Arabic and Islamic Studies too.

Arabic and English languages are both used for learning, as an integrated teaching approach at the school, from our Early Education Centres (EEC) to our Pre School 4 students, aged 4. Arabic and English share the same importance and value at QAD. Both languages are given equal weight in their education and in their utilization to learn, with English being the medium of the curriculum. The expectation is to master both languages as students employ both to convey concepts and ideas with a richness that is unavailable to either language by itself.

The best thing about our school is the students. Throughout the school, they are lively, enthusiastic and highly motivated. They are challenged to think critically and develop an international mindset. We guide them to take responsibility for their own learning and encourage them to inquire into the world around them. Our staff embodies a wide range of experience and a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm when facilitating children’s learning, as we aim for the highest standards for ourselves and internationally.

Our parents are tremendously supportive and contribute a huge amount of time and energy to the school, whether it is as part of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) or as individual family members. We all work together to maintain open lines of communication between the school and the community.

Please take the time to browse our website and navigate around our wonderful school.

I look forward to welcoming you to QAD Primary!
